My name is Renee, and I run Healthy Life Harbinger.com. I started this blog because being healthy is a top priority, and it makes me happy to know that I’m doing my small part in sharing information that will help you be healthy, too.
A harbinger is one who initiates change, and – thank goodness – I’m one of many who is working hard to bring about a change in all things health related.
Let’s face it – it’s a full time job to stay on top of your health these days. Between work, kids, errands, etc, time is so very limited. The thought of taking the time to sit down and research is daunting. Cooking at home every evening is next to impossible. There are just SO many things going on in our lives, often our health takes a back seat.
What we fail to realize is that if we don’t make time for our health, we won’t be doing any of those other things. If you’re in the hospital, your son is not going to get to his soccer game, for example.
I hear this often: ‘we’re just going to die anyway- I’m going to eat what I want‘. True, everyone will eventually die, BUT you do choose how you want to live the latter part of your life (either in decent health or sickly) right now. Right this very minute, you’re setting yourself up for an enjoyable, fairly active ‘senior life’, or you’re setting yourself up for a sickly one with frequent visits to the hospital.
How are you doing this? With your food and lifestyle. Forget genetics. We need to stop being lazy with statements like ‘oh my dad had so and so, so it doesn’t matter what I do, I’ll have it, too‘ or ‘well when you get old, you just get sick’. This is lunacy! Your dad had so and so because of his food and lifestyle choices, and elderly people have issues because their food and lifestyle choices have finally caught up with them.
Age does not determine good or bad health. Children are born with diseases, and elderly people live to be one hundred years old with no ailments whatsoever. Age means nothing.
What you’re eating, drinking, using for toiletries/cosmetics and your activity level are what will determine your future health. NOTHING ELSE.
So what are my goals with this blog? It’s all about encouragement!
- To encourage you to think about and question the ingredients that are found in everything from vitamins to shampoo to deodorant to chips to household cleaners
- To encourage you to question your doctor when he/she continually tosses new medications your way, all the while getting a kickback from the company that supplied it
- To encourage you to find an alternative for a surgery that you *might* not need
- To encourage you to do your own research in all of these areas and more so that you will be able to make informed and educated decisions about your health
Make time for your health, or your health will take time away from you.
BE STRONG. BE INFORMED. BE HEALTHY.
